Homer Vess passed away July 7th at Columbia Lutheran Home after an amazing & lively 103 years. Born in 1908 in Rockford, WA, Homer worked at the Navy Yard in Bremerton during World War II and then Epcon Electrical as a sheet metal worker in neon sign construction, working on the Seattle P-I Globe and signs at Seattle Center for the 1962 World’s Fair. He and his wife, Alice, enjoyed 66 years of marriage before her passing in 1993. After having visited Alice each day during her three years at Columbia Lutheran, Homer became a dedicated volunteer at the home for the next 18 years, before becoming a resident himself. An avid coin collector, Homer is survived by his children, Janet Jones & Richard Vess, three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, WA 98155 on July 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
