John was the son of Virgil H. Spurr and Stella S. (Vilk) Spurr. He was born on September 21, 1943 in Danville, Illinois. He moved to Seattle, Washington in his early 20s to join his sister Jean (Spurr) Quinn to study Industrial Electronics. After getting his diploma at Edison Technical School, he spent his career at Seatronics and later retiring from the University of Washington.
While working in Seattle, Washington, John met and married his wife of nearly 50 years, Karla J Spurr. They made their home in Shoreline, where they raised their family and supported their kids' activities, such as soccer, 4-H off-road motorcycling, and camping. They also made many long-term close friends, having a home in which anyone felt welcome. John deeply touched the lives of numerous individuals. He took special pride in the role he played in helping to raise his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time in Alaska on his boat, the Karlynn, that he shared with long-time family friends, the Wikans. He also enjoyed spending his time with family, extended family, and friends at his home in Desert Aire, WA.
John is survived by his loving family: daughters Monica (Darrell), Mitzi (Shane) and Sarah (Jacob); son Jason; grandsons Dylan and Noah; granddaughters Sadie, Karla, and Stella; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many dear friends. He also leaves behind his long time very special friend, Patti Marzullo, and his beloved Bella.
John was preceded in passing by his parents Virgil Spurr and Stella (Vilk) Spurr, his sister Jean (Spurr) Quinn, and beloved wife Karla (Frimml) Spurr.
Memorial Contributions may be made in John Spurr's memory to the American Heart Association.
