He was born on May 8, 1951, to Lawrence and Mitzi McIntosh in Great Falls, Montana. Musically and dramatically talented, as well as an enthusiastic snow skier, he graduated from C.M. Russell High School in Great Falls. He attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah graduating with a Master's Degree.
Always a "Golden Boy," succeeding at everything he tried, he began his career as a top real estate salesman in Great Falls, Montana. He later moved to Seattle, where he worked in the equipment finance industry. It was there that he met and later married Cheryle Crawford. Over the course of the next three decades, LJ was a high achiever and made a mark in his field. His most recent employment was with Key Equipment Finance where he served as Director of Sales, Senior Vice President and Western Regional Sales Manager. A well-known and respected leader, he accrued many achievement awards during his 11 years with Key. Driven by a quick wit and sense of humor, he was always ready with a joke and a smile. He named his home "The Secret Garden," which was his sanctuary and a place where he loved to relax, read, enjoy the view, and feed his beautiful Koi fish. His many other pleasures included cooking for his family and friends, watching his "almighty" Seahawks, and vacationing in Maui and Palm Desert for getaways with his wife Cheryle. He was most proud of being a father and was dedicated to his three children, Dax, Dane and Heather. Preceded in death by his beloved 12 year old daughter Heather, LJ was awed and inspired by her courage, good nature and bravery as she fought her battle with liver disease. Following her inspiration, he likewise lived each day to the fullest with the same courage and determination.
Also preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his loving wife Cheryle; his son Dax (Alexis) and grandbaby Asher; son Dane of Boise, Idaho; his brothers Scott (Leah) of Great Falls, Montana; Tom (Tammy), of Dixon, California; and sister, Kem (Del) Atkinson, of Granite Bay, California along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Matthew Longeran and his team at Cancer Care Alliance are gratefully acknowledged for the care of LJ throughout his treatment.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 6, 2013, at Nile Shrine Golf Center, 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace, WA at 2:00 pm.
