

M. Tresine "Tessie" Di Martino passed away peacefully February 17th, 2022, at Providence Mount St Vincent Hospital, West Seattle reaching the age of (95). Tessie was a resident there for several years with exceptional care by all staff on 4th Floor North.
She was preceded in death by her mother- Josephine Mastro Di Martino, father- Mario Luigi Giuseppe Di Martino, brother - Mario "Bud" DiMartino and survived by many cousins.
Born January 3, 1927, in West Seattle, White Center where she remained most of her life. She was very active in the enrichment of White Center.
She was a member of the South Seattle Saddle Club which opened the White Center Mardi Gras a 3-day event raising money for community groups, youth groups and Boys Club. She was one of the five attendants to the Queen!
Improvement Club of the South End-again on the "float" as attendant to Queen.
She was a consummate volunteer and community advocate. One of her Volunteer positions was with the Seattle Symphony where she would pick up from the airport and transport famous Conductors, Maestros, singers etc. and drive them to the Hotels and of course the Symphony. She was then able to attend many performances either free or discounted with family and friends! Thrifty for sure.

1952 She worked in the payroll department of West Coast Fast Freight.
She was hired 1958 by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. when finally decided to hire women engineers because the men were not getting done.! M. Tresine Di Martino was one of the 9 women to break the barrier at PT&T. She was the only woman in the state engaged in her specific type of technical work.
1959 at 32 years old Tessie traveled to Europe, bought a car, and drove October-December visiting her Mastro and DiMartino extended family. Her detail of trip is the gas cost was $181.98!
1962 Honeywell featured her as a Seattle Accountant
A very trusted Accountant in White Center, she kept her business going well into her 70's! She owned apartment buildings and loved her life. She dotted her "I" and crossed her "T'" with everything she did. Her special time came when she began to travel and started her exceptional photo collections. Travel and photography became her next adventure.
In her free time, Tessie was a World Traveler. With the assistance of Joanne and Lowell Baird who were the
travel agents and friends, they designed the best Holidays ever. Top class/top accommodations/no "line" waiting for any museum, from the Uffizi in Italy to the churches in Ireland.
In South Africa staying at the beautiful Mala Mala Camp next to Kruger National; visiting Desmond Tutu's church and reading about the apartheid. Tessie left no stone unturned. Visiting Nelson Mandela and a trip to Robben Island Prison; Her trip to Botswana and the Great Migration, Nairobi, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Masai Mara; Ireland from top to bottom! Italy, Lake Como, Lugano, Verona, Venice, St Francis Assisi, and the Tuscan countryside; Vietnam – Mekong River Tour, Tunnels of war. Galapagos Islands, 2 trips to Antarctica , Norway, Fiords to the Russian Boarder; China – Singapore - By Boat up the Yangtze River to 3 Georges dam up to Wuhan! Russia river boat cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow seeing the famous Hermitage Museum which is a museum of art and culture and the largest art museum in the world by gallery space. It was the official residence of Russian Tsars, and for almost 100 years
The people on her trips were from all over the US and became her regular travel companions, faith based making sure museums and churches were the high point on the list of places to go. From St Patrick's & the Knock Shrine in Ireland to an audience with the Pope and so much more. She will be missed on the travels.
