

Margaret May Gallagher Hassel,loving wife, mother, aunt, grand-mother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2015. Margaret was born January 10, 1920, at home in Kirkland Washington. She attended Magnolia schools and graduated from Queen Anne High School. She attended University of Washington. In October 1942 she married her childhood sweetheart Arthur K Hassel. They were married 68 years. She was a welder in the Seattle shipyards during WWII. After Arthur returned from the war they moved to Port Angeles and started their business Pacific Refrigeration.
Margaret was a lifetime member of the Pioneers of Washington, Rainbow Girls Queen Anne chapter, Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts. She was active in the Clallam County Girl Scouts and served as a Girl Scout Leader and was on the board of Fisher Cove Girl Scout camp at Lake Sutherland.
On March 12, 1978, she became a child of God through Holy Baptism when she was baptized with her first granddaughter Michele.
Margaret and Art had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Asia and the Americas. In retirement they lived in Palm Springs, San Carlos, Mexico and Maui, Hawaii The last ten years she resided in Tacoma.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, parents Lena and Earl H Gallagher and her brother Robert Gallagher. She is survived by daughter Kathleen Hand (Philip) of Woodburn, Oregon, daughter Patty Hulbert (Dennis) of Tacoma, son David Hassel (Deborah) of Port Angeles, daughter Marjorie Kellogg of Tacoma. Eleven Grandchildren, Michele, David, Jimmy, Margaret May, Meredith, Erica, Kristen, Lena, Laura, Molly and Emily. 6 great grandchildren, Noah, Gracie May, Claire, Jack, Cole, Beckett and many nieces and nephews.
Special Thanks to her Caregiver Faith as they became close friends the many years Faith cared for her and if not for her she wouldn't have been able to stay in her apartment as was her wish.

Graveside services will be held at Acacia Memorial Park, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following at a local restaurant.
