Nathaniel, “Boy” to his close friends and family, was famously known for his charismatic and boisterous personality. But both paled in comparison to his selflessness and love for everyone around him. He conveyed this to his beloved city of San Carlos, where he worked as the city’s Urban Planner and City and Recreational Sports Coordinator. He also taught Chemistry and Algebra and refereed local basketball games with his kids in tow.
Boy met his beautiful wife, Ofelia Talavera Magali, in High School. They married on November 28, 1972 and were blessed with four of the world’s most amazing children 😉.
On February 2, 1990 Boy moved his family to Bothell, Washington. He tirelessly worked the graveyard shift in Medical Stores at Harborview Medical Center for 21 years, retiring in 2011.
Boy loved reading, gardening and leisurely neighborhood strolls on beautiful days. Though his one true passion? Cooking. While Boy was a man who wore his heart on his sleeve (always saying “what you see is what you get”), he showed his love through food. The minute you step into his house, you know you’re not leaving without a full belly. You can always count on seeing his wonderful smile as you took your first bite of his food.
Boy’s selflessness, empathy and love live on through his wife Ofelia of 49 years; his children Leah and husband Cliff, Lois and husband Brian, Len and husband Mark, and Neil and wife Chelsea; his grandchildren Jordan, Liam, Bliss, Jonas, Lucas, Levi and Wren; and his siblings Luisa, Joel, Ruth and Bodette.
