

Pierre Wilson White, “Perry,” age 96, passed away peacefully listening to his favorite music on March 19, 2014, at his home in Seattle. Pierre enjoyed good health throughout his entire life and was mentally sharp to the end.
Pierre, at age 25, married Elva Mae Dahl, at age 21, on May 9, 1943. They were married for 71 years. Pierre from St. Louis, Missouri, and Elva from Wenatchee, Washington, met in Oakland, California, during WWII. Pierre, in the Navy, had recently survived the sinking of the aircraft carrier USS Lexington, CV-2, during the Battle of the Coral Sea. Pierre was in Oakland to be re-assigned to a new ship, Elva had moved to Oakland to work for the telephone company.
Pierre and Elva had two children, five grand children, and six great grand children. Pierre was a loving and loyal husband to Elva and a wonderful father to his two children, Cheryl and Jack, who were very close to him. His grand children adored him.
At Pierre’s request he will be laid to rest at the Tahoma Veterans Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. A veteran’s service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:30 am at which time he will receive military honors.
In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the New Prospect Cemetery Association, in memory of Pierre, attention Lynn Carrington, Treasurer, 6998 Co. Rd. 325, Fulton, MO., 65251. This is a small, private cemetery with Pierre’s father, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
