My Dearest Rob,
I miss you and love you. The November leaves sing colors of autumn and the change of the season. You are at peace. The love story that we lived together is an amazing memory. That memory will always remain as we had our own unique time in life. As you said Rob "It is our story and only you can tell it". I did not think that you would leave me alone to do so.

My condolences go out to you all that have had Rob in their lives. I am sorry for your loss.  I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but know through stories from Patti that he was an amazing man.  Her face would, and still, lights up when talking about him. The love shines through when she shares the adventures of their life together. Reading the kind words that have been written about him makes me smile and glad to know that you all have been touch with good fortune to have had such a wonderful, caring person in your lives.  The pain in loss is hard to handle but the love you shared will live in your heart forever.

My wife Susan and I live just uphill from Rob and Patti on Lakeside Ave NE and share a backyard fence.   We moved in a few years before Rob and Barb and became instant friends.  Our wives both worked with computers and I study salmon, so we had a lot in common.  Even though I work with fish, I had never met a salmon fisherman before.   Rob's fishing stories really opened my eyes to the whole process of bringing these fish to market.   Some of it was a bit shocking, like how little they were paid per pound, but all the stories were entertaining the way Rob told them.
Before the fence, which was added for Minnie, not to keep out the neighbors, we would chat frequently about gardening and current events.   Even with the fence, we were still able to interact at the southern end where it was only 3 feet high.  In spite of the fence, Minnie was able to get out at first, which allowed us to get to know her a lot better too.  I'll never forget one 4th of July when Rob and Barb were traveling.   Minnie came up to visit us while we were in the hot tub at around midnight because she was a bit freaked out by the fireworks.  I couldn't get them on the phone, so Minnie spent the night with us.  She is such a sweet little dog.  Regarding fireworks, I should add that by living uphill we enjoyed Rob's firework shows.  And no, we weren't the ones who called the cops!
I used to chat with Rob quite a bit because I road my bike by his house most days on my way to work.  I would always look for him in the morning and evening as I rode by.  We were of like mind and I thoroughly enjoyed his take on politics and the absurdity of things in the news. We often shared stories on our respective house remodeling efforts, and it was also a good chance to catch up on the neighborhood activities, both good and bad.  
I can't believe he is gone and I still look towards his driveway every time I pass by, slowly realizing that he isn't going to be there.  I then start thinking of all the great talks we had in his driveway, especially on those nice summer evenings.   I'm really going to miss him.

The planet is a poorer place without you.  I loved to talk politics with you; it was like preaching to the choir for both of us with the shared outrage.  Thanks for all the kindness you showed Andrew.  We both miss you.

Mr. Rob, We are so grateful for your friendship and generosity.  You were always present in our lives and interested in what we were doing when we were growing up.  You remembered us during all holidays.  Your house was the first place we stopped on Halloween because you and Mrs. Barb always had the best and the biggest candy bars.

When you were remodeling his house, I, Joe, then a 4 year, was inspired to start my own building project.  Mr. Rob, you provided me with scrap material from your own going project and gave me some direction.  After completing my project in record time, I went over and told you I was done with my project and asked if you needed help since you were taking so long to complete your project. You laughed and loved sharing that story with others.

Mr. Rob, you were a good friend to everyone. We miss you Mr. Rob and Mrs. Barb so much.  You are together again forever and will never be separated again.

We all will miss Rob.  He was a great neighbor and friend.  Our boys were lucky to know him. Rob and Barb were a part of their lives growing up. Rich hit his first two fence home run into their yard.  Joe built his first house using scraps from Rob remodeling project.

We sit in our home and everywhere we look, we see Rob.  He helped build our deck, he brought huge rocks from his driveway for our retaining wall.  Every day, I get something out of the freezer and refrigerator that he gave us.  You just couldn't outgive Rob.  For over 30 years, he has been a giant friend to us and we will miss him so much.

I have always called him "Uncle Robbie"...he was the brother my mom never got to have, and my favorite uncle (from another mother). You know, the "fun one" in the family, that made Christmas Eve at the Seablooms and Wendy's so much fun. He and Barb always spoiled me with the best toys as a child. As I grew, and eventually had my own kids, Robbie passed that love forward to Hailey and Lindsay. My husband, Rory, loved having Robbie around because he was easy to be with. He told stories, with animation and inflection in his voice, that made everyone listen and laugh! I can't tell you how many giant salmon I had in my freezer from Robbie - his yearly gift to the family from his catch. One year, he gave me a kitchen fire hydrant after I nearly escaped a car fire that year. It was his way of telling me he loved me, but to be prepared next time. His sense of humor was the best! The Maciaszyk family will dearly miss our Uncle Robbie and look forward to seeing him at the gates of Heaven telling a joke to intake just to make us laugh! We love you Robbie! Farewell to my wonderful little brother and pal. We are so sorry that you became ill but are glad that you finally out of your pain. We miss you dearly.

I do not believe you are gone, because you owe me a nightout on the town. I will miss you just as much as  I miss Barb. This is hard for me, two of the best people I knew left to soon. Hi Rob tell Barb, I love her and I will see you both again. Garland your Bro!!

We met in kindergarten 1958. Shared grade school, jr high, high school, college, cub scouts, boy scouts, worked the same high school job, summer job, halibut fishing, little league baseball, roommates twice, ski trips with Barb and her dad, our first drink and many after that.  I thought that we would be reminicing as old men someday.  I will miss that.

Barb and Rob were the sun and the moon together.  When Barb passed away I wondered how Rob would make it without her.  When Rob called to tell me about Patti - I was relieved he wouldn't face life alone. I was so happy for them.  I'm so sorry 2 such wonderful people who touched us with their thoughtfulness and love in so many ways are gone too soon.  I also know they both lived life out loud.  They loved and enjoyed every minute...I hope if people really do go to heaven they are reunited once more...even though it leaves us with only our memories with them.  Crystal Tyson

Rob and Friends -  Seven years ago when we moved to Lakeside Place we were welcomed by cookies and flowers from what proved to be our ever generous neighbor Rob Seabloom. You had the heart of a lion Rob and your huge presence will be missed on our street and in our lives.  
From an early age Spencer would ask to go visit "Rob and Mini" next door (starting at the age of 6). He would always return home with a toy, book or movie of some kind.  Over the years our family would frequently be greeted by your thoughtful gifts and cards on our porch.  The most recent gift was just 10 days after your surgery.  There was a long note to Spencer part of which read "don't worry about me I am going to be fine" and it was attached to a remote control Hummer.  Mr. Seabloom you were also a great prankster and we always enjoyed coming home to your fun antics, most recently the 50 bananas hung all over our tree in the front yard.  It was an honor and a pleasure to live on your street Rob. Thank you for forever touching our lives. The Straight Family will deeply miss you.  We love you.

To my dear friend Rob,
Thank you for being one of the true friends you were for more than 40 years!  The memories are vivid and clear and I could start from the house on 27th…but you, I am sure, would be able to come up with more extravagant, detailed and memorable stories than I could ever tell.  We shared so many unique and special moments in life –I benefited and learned from all of them- Seattle, Longview, Ryderwood, the Orcas Islands, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, Mt. St. Helens, Paris, and here in Murches, Cascais, you were able to make the best out of every situation! You built at least   (not counting that cement foundation of the log house in Kingston) two houses that should have won medals of personal genius, gave everything possible and more to everyone who needed or asked, never gave up and always had a solution! You had the unique ability to draw people to you.  Rob, you were always a father to my son, Bryan and we will never forget that  (or the mashed potato ‘birthday cake’).  As  a listener, a person with perception and vision and one who lived too short of a life,  I always felt welcome in your home despite what might have been happening in either of our lives at that moment – and that includes all 40+ years! We were able to admit our weaknesses and think of ways to dwell on our strengths (‘no more I’m sorry!’)!  You found two loves in your life and a following of more friends than you will ever know. I will always admire your courage and the strength you found to battle until the end.  My life was deeply influenced by you and I wish you all the peace that you deserve.  As I do not know how to express equally in English, I will say in Portuguese, ‘vou sentir muitos saudades tuas’  With love from Cindy (and Sheeba!)

I treasure all of the epic memories we share of laughter and good friends gathering at Wendy's, Rob's, and Bob & Joan's houses over the years.  Rob's charm, humor, and easy smile always brightened every occasion and I am so grateful to have a life touched by them all.  Robbie, you left us far too soon and you are already deeply missed.

Rob, thank you for always finding a way to make me appreciate the moment! You taught me so much through both your words and deeds. You were truly a father to me. Thank you for making this world a better place. I will miss you dearly!!

     We were so sorry to learn of Robbie's death.  As close friends of Robbie's parents for over 60 years

In the midst of one of last winter's snowfalls, my Siamese cat, Misha, had a surgical appointment at a Maple Leaf veterinary office. Lakeside Place Northeast was predictably treacherous with little to no traffic daring the steep and curving hill to Sandpoint Way. Rob told me days in advance not to cancel the appointment -- he could take us in his old Audi, outfitted with studded tires. And he did, deftly maneuvering the car out of his driveway and onto the slippery road, then driving up to mine and opening the door to take Misha's carrier in hand. It was the same for the trip to bring her home hours later. And although I am a neighbor of less than two years, the stories of similar things Rob has done are legend. He also had great taste in cars. I'll miss seeing him going by in the Audi and will miss hearing about the Volvo wagon he loved.

Others have mentioned that he was a prolific practical joker. Early this year I left the house to discover that he'd "planted" bananas in the branches of a tree bordering my house. It was April Fool's Day. Yesterday I was cleaning up the front garden for winter when in the heap of foliage I found a dried up, blackened banana peel.

Here's to you, Rob. My condolences to friends and family, human and canine.

I'm sorry for your loss, Patti. I will always remember all the fun dinners at Rob's with you and Larisa. He was a really caring man, with a big heart. I'm sorry I cannot attend the service, as I'm teaching in Japan, but am thinking of you and Rob's family and friends.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Robbie - you were the brother I never had. Rob, you are gone too soon!  Your love and devotion to Barb was special, and we are thankful to have been counted among your friends for so many, many years.  We will miss your smile, your wit, and your spirit, but we are thankful you can now be with Barb.
