

William Weldon Henderson beloved husband to Diana Lee Henderson (Harms) passed away peacefully in Seattle on August 15 2016 at the age of 78. Bill grew up on the shores of Portage Bay with his parents, Joseph and Evelyn (Colpitts) and his sisters Anna and Betty . Bill met the love of his life, Diana, while attending the University of Washington and they married shortly after he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry. Soon after, they headed to Minneapolis where Bill earned his PHD at the University of Minnesota and their first 2 sons, Joseph and James were born. Bill began his career in Research and Development with DuPont and made Wilmington Delaware their home, where son Donald was born, After many years with DuPont, the family moved to Port Townsend WA, Diana's hometown. Bill and Diana's brother, Dick took over the family cannery, Guilford Packing. After their boys went away to college, they closed the cannery and relocated to Allentown PA where Bill worked for Air Products until his retirement in 1994. Bill and Diana built their dream home on his childhood property on Portage Bay where they lived until his health declined. Bill enjoyed a life filled with love and excitement. He summited numerous mountains, traveled extensively throughout the world, excelled at playing bridge and was an avid lover of nature. He enjoyed lots of great times with his children, grandchildren and loved ones. In addition to Diana, Bill leaves behind his sons and their families, Joseph and Mei, James and Marija and their sons Chandler and Ian, Donald and his children, Brian, Erik, Kyle and Julia, sister Betty Gordon and Anna Chavelle and spouse Chris Knutson, numerous extended family members that he cared for deeply and his beloved cats, Little Girl and Big Guy. Memorial services will begin with a viewing at 12:00 p.m. and a graveside memorial service at 1:00, officiated by Diana's nephew, ARMY Chaplain Lee Harms.
