Arlene D. Broemmer

Arlene was born on May 10, 1939 in Hoboken, NJ, daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Dorothy (Langan) Mulder. The family moved to Weehawken where she lived most of her early life, and graduated in 1957 from Weehawken High School. Arlene married George Broemmer in 1960, and they resided and raised their family in Secaucus, NJ.

After high school, Arlene was employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for five years. The next fifteen years were devoted to raising her three children. At the age of 36, Arlene received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Felician College and spent many years in the ER and critical care of St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken. The following 25 years were spent as a public health nurse for the City of Union City and school nurse at Woodrow Wilson School in Weehawken, where she retired in 2010. Arlene was very proud of the free breast examination program she and co-educator Graceyn Lipari developed and instituted for the women of Union City.

Arlene was the beloved wife of George, the loving mother to Kerry Ernst (Tom), Kaaryn, and Keith (Laura); the loving grandmother of Nicholas Ernst (Cristen), James Ernst, Amanda Broemmer, Thomas Ernst, and loving great-grandmother to Derek and Brody. Arlene was also the beloved sister of Robert Mulder (Reci Jo), and the late Kenneth Mulder (Pat), and sister-in-law to the late George and Dorothy Krobatsch, and the late John and Alma Kasten. Arlene was the beloved aunt to Kenny, David, and Alex Mulder; Donald, Bruce, Janice and John Kasten; and Debbie, Wayne, Robin and Roy Krobatsch.

A visitation for Arlene will be held Wednesday, January 10 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 11from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
