

Denise vanHeumen, age 75 of Secaucus NJ passed away on Sunday, March 15. Denise was born in Passiac on March 4, 1951, to the late Raymond and Gladys (Inglis) Halpin. She was a life-long Secaucus resident.
Denise is survived by her loving children, her son, Jason and his wife Jessica, and her daughter, Tara; her cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Cassidy, Sarah, Nathan, Carmen, and Stephen; her sisters, Mickey and Paulette; her sisters-in-law, Kathy and Regina; her brother-in-law, Michael; her nephews Matthew and Michael; and numerous beloved cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Raymond and her brothers-in-law Corey and Edward.
Denise was the devoted wife of the late Joseph vanHeumen, who passed away in 2021. Denise and Joseph were married in 1973 and were inseparable throughout their 48 years together. They shared a deep and loving marriage that served as the foundation of their lives. Together they created a warm and welcoming home and shared many adventures traveling to islands throughout the Caribbean. Each May they returned to their favorite place, Aruba, their beloved “Happy Island,” where they created countless cherished memories.
Denise had a generous spirit and found great joy in bringing her family together. She loved every holiday and proudly hosted them all, making sure her home was beautifully decorated inside and out for every occasion. When Denise was in charge, everyone left with full bellies and happy hearts. As an avid fan of the New York Jets, she took great pride in teaching her grandchildren the power of Sunday football and everything that went along with it.
Denise also had a deep appreciation for art and loved to paint, expressing her creativity through her work and finding joy in the beauty of everyday moments. She enjoyed sharing that creativity with her grandchildren and could often be found drawing, crafting, or painting with Stephen or Carmen on any given afternoon.
Denise will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph, the love of her life.
Her Visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus on Friday March 20th, from 4 to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus on Saturday March 21st, at 9:30 am. followed by her Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ
