

Secaucus, NJ – Edna Ruth “Gom” (Hamel) Harris passed into eternal life on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Hackensack Medical Center. She was 87. Edna was born in Jersey City and was a lifelong resident of Secaucus. She was employed for 33 years with Western Electric retiring in 1985. She was also a congregant of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Secaucus. Predeceasing Edna was her loving husband George in 2013, her two brothers; Paul and Robert Hamel and her sister; Natalie Tarrant. Surviving is a son; Peter Harris and his wife Karen of Upper Montclair, NJ, Grandsons; Shea and Thomas Harris, a Goddaughter; Edna Prospero, and her sister; Margaret Kaden of Florida. Many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces, nephews, and a great-great nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited Monday 2~4 7~9 pm to Mack Memorial Home 1245 Paterson Plank Rd Secaucus, NJ 07094. A 10 am, Tuesday chapel service will be celebrated followed by interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Memorial contributions in Edna’s name made be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America 322 Eighth Avenue 7th Flr. New York, NY 10001.
