He was born on September 21, 1945, the son of Frank and Marie (nee La Mattina) Baer.
Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann (nee Potter), sons Frank Jr. (Lori) and Neil (Beth), grandsons Aaron, Alexander, and Andrew, sister, Marie (Buddy) Roesing, brother John (Barbara) Baer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Anthony Baer.
Frank graduated from Weehawken High School in 1966 and was drafted into the Army where he served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1972 with the rank of corporal. After the service, Frank held numerous jobs, but the only one he would want us to talk about is Firetrucks.
Fire Trucks were Frank's passion (and Harley-Davidson motorcycles). Fixing. Driving. Riding. Climbing ladders. Hydraulics. Collecting Replicas. Teaching others proper use and maintenance. Frank could talk about Fire Trucks for days on end. He had great respect for the machines and the people who operated them.
It wasn't just the trucks Frank loved, he relished hanging out with his friends and coworkers at the North Hudson Regional Fire and Safety, Secaucus Washington Hook and Ladder Engine 4 | Ladder 1 and New Jersey Fire Equipment Company. The family is especially grateful to all the former colleagues who sent well wishes, stories, and messages of thanks during this trying time. Frank enjoyed hearing us read these messages to him.
There will be a private cremation ceremony for the family at Mack Memorial Home. We invite all who want to say goodbye to Frank to attend the public funeral mass at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, June 3 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, Frank and the family ask you to donate to the charity of your choice.
