

Maria “Mary” Minervini, 92, of Secaucus, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Born in Molfetta, Italy to Concetta and Oronzo DeCandia; she would go on to immigrate from Italy to America with her family following World War II. Maria moved to Hoboken, NJ where she met her husband Leonardo Minervini, and worked as a seamstress. After Maria and Leonardo married, they started a family where Maria stayed home to raise her children. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (“nonna”), sister, and friend. She had a smile that would warm everyone’s heart and a laugh that would make people feel at home. Maria was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and neighbors. She also found joy in singing especially when she would lead Silent Night in the traditional family carols every Christmas Eve.
She was predeceased by her husband Leonardo; son Gaetano; two sisters Frances Tattoli, and twin Anna Tattoli. Maria is survived by her sons Dominick, and Larry and his wife MaryAnn; grandchildren Talia, Francesca, Sofia, and Nicolas; brother Larry DeCAndia and his wife Tina; and her caretaker Mercedes.
A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, November 16, from 4 to 8 PM at Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, November 17, at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Paterson Plank Rd., Secaucus, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
