

William G. Barthel, Jr. age 57, of Nutley formerly of Secaucus, died tragically on Thanksgiving night November 27, 2014 after being hit by a train at Penn Station in Newark, NJ. He was born on January 21, 1957 to the late Dorothy & William G. Barthel, Sr.
Bill played Little League baseball in Secaucus and attended Immaculate Conception School. He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in West New York, NJ. He worked as a freight expeditor at Yellow Freight for many years.
Surviving is his family who loved him more than he ever realized: sister Deborah Barthel Egan, brother-in-law Joseph M. Egan, nephew Michael J. Egan, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friend, confidant and guardian Mark Carugan whom the family wishes to thank for all his help and support.
Bill was open-minded and never judgmental. He was a kind and trusting person with dreams larger than reality that he held onto right until the end.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday April 8, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.drugfree.org in Bill’s memory.
