Carol Grant

Shawnee resident, Carol Ann Martinez Grant, age 54, passed from this life on June 23, 2011. Carol was born on August 2, 1956 to Harold “Buddy” Dean Martinez and Barbara Jo Karty Yackeschi in Lawton, OK. She played basketball, softball, racquetball, and was a cheerleader. She holds the Comanche County Basketball Tournament record in 1973 with 50 points and still holds the area record of 62 points. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, and the Fort Sill Centennial Princess in 1971. Carol attended OSU Tech and worked at the Sac and Fox Nation for many years. She enjoyed playing with her grandkids, watching all sports, and being with her family. The proudest moments in Carol’s life were when she became a mother and grandmother. She attended Westside Baptist Church in Walters, OK.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, Buddy Martinez, and her son, Dustin Curtis Grant

She is survived by her spouse, Curtis Grant; three daughters, Christie Grant Williams and her spouse, Alfred, Jacy Grant Villalobos and her spouse, Joel, and Sonni Grant Bradley, all of Shawnee; grandchildren, Darian Rhodd Williams, Luis Villalobos, Cruz Villalobos, Kanon Bradley; brothers Harold Dean Martinez of Albuquerque, NM, and George Herbert Martinez, and his spouse, Carol, of Temple; five sisters, Donna Lucille Ahdosy, and her spouse, Dewey, Gina Lynn Martinez, Leanna Luette Martinez, Brenda Marie Martinez and her spouse, Vance Hall, all of Walters, OK, and Pamela Kay Vargas and her spouse, Abel Vargas, Jr. of Temple; five nieces; six nephews; and many close and loving friends.

Services will be held under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home at Immanuel Baptist Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
