Charles Ronald Underwood

Charles Ronald Underwood died Thursday, June 26th, 2014 in Joplin, Missouri. Ronnie was born June 30th, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of William Edward and Ruth (Bumpus) Underwood. His family moved to Wichita, Kansas then Carthage, Missouri where Ronnie attended Carthage High School.

He served in the United States Navy and then went on to study at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. He earned a bachelor degree in music. He taught music, band and drama in Missouri schools and overseas including schools including Honduras, Kenya, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Thailand.

After his father’s retirement, his parents moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma where he enjoyed spending his summer vacations.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother Bill Underwood Jr. and sister-in-law Leigh Marino Underwood of Atlanta, Georgia, nephews: Ted, Matthew, John, and Jefferson Underwood, niece: Anne Underwood and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10 am. Interment will be at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee.
