C.J. "Clyde" Smith

C.J. was born in Lincoln County on March 29, 1928, near what is now Meeker Lake. He was raised in the Meeker/McLoud area.

He became a member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church as a teenager and remained a member there his entire life.

He married Mary Marie Hackett on Oct. 30, 1948, at Hazel Dell.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Stephen Smith, and his parents, J.C. and Effie Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home; brother, Ernest Lee Smith; three children, Carol and Hugh Mosier of McLoud, Dale and Linda Smith of McLoud, and Diane and Jack Holloway of Shoshoni, Wyoming; as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He operated three service stations in the Midwest City area for several years. While operating the stations he began to purchase land and cattle in the McLoud area and farmed there until his retirement in 2008.

He loved fishing and sharing the opportunity with everyone to fish on his farm, but he truly loved faming and raising cattle.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, May 11th at Hazel Dell Baptist Church in McLoud. Visitation will be until 8:00 PM May 10th at Resthaven Funeral Home.
