He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on July 23, 1945, to Coy and Mary (Knight) Herron. He was raised in Shawnee.
He married Dorothy Dibler on February 8, 1963. He worked 16 years for the Shawnee Public Schools System, where he retired from. He loved his great-grandchild, Nora Herron, with all his heart.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Mary (Knight) Herron; wife, Dorothy, and his brother, Doyle Edward Herron.
He is survived by his son, Druman Herron and husband, John; his daughter, Dondi Herron Poole; his grandson, Dylan Herron; his great-grandchild, Nora; his brother, W.C. Herron and wife, Phyllis; his sister, Glenda Sue (Ortega) Herron, and numerous nieces and nephews.
