Elmer Ray Terrel was born September 24, 1928, in McLoud, Oklahoma to Jefferson and Verna (Martin) Terrel. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Gloria Jean Hayes on December 22, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mr. Terrel was a welder at Tinker Air Force Base for 31 years. He then worked for the City of Shawnee for 10 years. He was a member of the Valley of McAlester Orient of Oklahoma Masonic Lodge and VFW. He loved to camp and fish and was a member of the Good Sams and Mobile Villa Camping Clubs. He was a people person and loved to socialize with everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter: Debra Kaye Terrel; and three brothers: Sam, Cecil and Raymond Terrel.
He is survived by his daughter: Sherilyn and her husband Elmer “Bud” McCalister, Shawnee; and two grandchildren: Joshua McCalister and Jennifer McCalister, both of Shawnee.
