Guy Thomas Loftis

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Guy passed away from his earthly life peacefully on January 14, 2014.

He was born April 8, 1925, in Theodosia, MO to Elmer and Marie (Kelly) Loftis. He married Norma O’Bright in 1946. She preceded him in death. He married Ruby Payne in 1960. Ruby preceded him in death in 1998. Guy and Jean Holland married in 2000. Guy was a World War II veteran, joining the Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served on the USS Solomons. After the war he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad as a locomotive engineer and after 30 years retired in 1979. He was a member of BL of E and was a lifetime member of VFW. He attended the First Christian Church in Shawnee.

He was proud of his military service and his family. Gardening was his passion and he loved to fish and hunt. He loved the outdoors and sharing stories with his grandchildren. He was their hero, and a loving grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his children’s mother, Norma O’Bright Loftis, wife, Ruby Loftis, son Bill, stepson Cliff Payne, brother Bacil Loftis and sister Mildred Uhl.

Surviving him are his wife, Jean Loftis, sons and daughter-in-law: Darrell

Ray and Fonda Loftis, Shawnee, Ronnie Loftis, Asher; daughter and son-in-law: Wynona and Rocky Richardson, Meeker; grandchildren: Virginia Musselshite, Carrie Mulcahy, Paula (Steve) Lyon, Lori Loftis, and Dustin (Rosemary)Loftis; 14 great grandchildren; one sister: Macie Edna Loftis; and numerous other family and friends.
