

James Marion Bishop was born on November 18, 1924 in Sparks, OK the son of Worl and Ethel (Hicks) Bishop. James grew up and attended school in Sparks until he joined the Army before graduating from high school. He also worked with his father on the Fort Smith & Western Rail Road. James would later obtain his GED and after his service in the Army he would gain employment at Tinker Air Force Base where he worked for 30 years as an Aircraft Blade Mechanic until he retired in 1977. James was a Baptist by faith and was a member of the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. James also enjoyed dancing, country music and OU football. He especially enjoyed the times spent with his family and sharing in the good food which was often a part of family gatherings. James loved the times when he lived in the OK Village apartments and the time spent with friends in the retirement center.
James is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Guy Bishop, and Fred Bishop.
Those left to Cherish his memories include his former wife Eula Mae Bishop of Shawnee, two sisters Lahoma Dreste of Odenville, AL, and Patricia Nell of Las Vegas, NV, a son Les Bishop and wife Tami of Tecumseh, OK, his daughter Theresa Henry of Oklahoma City, and five grandchildren Sara Henry, Sandra Ferguson, Clint Bishop, Elijah Bishop, and Audra Bishop, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
