

Mildred “Millie” (Wingo) Riley was born to Willie and Opal Wingo on March 22, 1920 in Springfield, Missouri. At the Age of 16 she was baptized into the Church of Christ in which she was an active member the rest of her life. During World War II, Millie worked at the Army Hospital in Springfield, in 1946 she moved to Los Angeles. On March 21, 1948, she married the love of her life Lindel P. Riley, to that union they had son Lin Allen. Later they all moved to San Antonio Ave. in South Gate, California where daughter Virginia Ann was born. Over the years she worked as a bookkeeper, accounts manager and office manager for various companies. She was active in Cub Scouts. For her service she was chosen to serve as ‘Azalea Queen’ for the first Azalea Festival in South Gate. Millie was a member of the San Gabriel Elementary School PTA, and also taught Sunday School and VBS at her church. After Lindel’s retirement, they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1975. In 1985 and 1986, Millie visited her son in Spain. On March 31, 1986 she welcomed her only grandchild, Tiffini Danielle Rhoades. Millie moved to Golden Rule Home in 2005 where she lived until June of this year. She lived at Colonial Lodge in McAlester until October 17, 2010 when she passed away. She is survived by her children Lin and Virginia, one sister Ruth and her granddaughter Tiffini.
Services will be held October 22, 2010 at 10am in the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, OK.
