

Robert "Bob" Nathan, 81, of Shawnee, passed peacefully at his home on September 21, 2014. He was born November 19, 1932, in Arlington, MA, to George W. and Mary Nathan. Bob proudly served 29 years in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars where he received many medals and citations for bravery. He was also an Airspace Manager for 14 years in federal civil service for the USAF following his military retirement and traveled all over the world. He was a lifetime member of the Shawnee VFW. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Joan Nathan; six daughters, Donna (Rick) Folsom of Piedmont; Lori (Ted) Brubaker of Arcadia; Teri (Tom) Gargan of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Kelly (Bill) Fisher of Enid; Pamela (Farid) Ghavidel of Edmond; Sonya Olson of Oceanside, CA; brother, George (Mary) Nathan of Sarasota, FL; sister, Barbara (Ralph) Copeland of Plymouth, MA; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Bob loved life and his Irish roots, family and friends and will be truly missed. His Irish eyes will always smile down and watch over us. At Bob's request, private graveside services will be held for family only with the Shawnee VFW Honor Guard and bagpiper playing "Danny Boy" and "Amazing Grace." Interment will be at the Tecumseh Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
