Vesta A. Mays

Vesta A. Mays, 90, of Shawnee, OK passed June 3, 2011 at Rose Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 24, 1920 to James T. Rowe and Flora Andrews Rowe in Kiowa, Oklahoma. She attended Kiowa High School and worked for Sequoyah Elementary School in the cafeteria as their food administrator before retiring. Her proudest moment and greatest achievement was being the very best mother and grandma- she loved being with her family. Her favorite hobbies were traveling and gardening, in fact she has visited all 50 states along with Canada and Mexico. She was a faithful member of the Central Church of Christ in Shawnee and was very active in the church until her illness. She is survived by her 2 sons, Leo Mays and wife, Barbara, of Norco, CA and Curtis Mays and wife, Imogene, of Del City, OK; 2 brothers, Earnest T. Littleton and wife, June, of Del City, OK and Gary Littleton and wife, Norma, of Ada, OK; 1 sister, Lahoma Reese of Shawnee, OK; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clinton D. Mays; parents; 6 brothers; and 5 sisters. Vesta’s visitation will be from 8 to 8pm, Monday, June 6th at Resthaven Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be 2pm, Tuesday, June 7th 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial following the service at Resthaven Memorial Park.
