

Walter Raymond Childress, 82, of Shawnee, Oklahoma died October 22, 2010 at his home in Shawnee. Raymond was born on May 18, 1928 in Prague, Oklahoma to David Jesse Childress and Bertha May Strong. He married Betty Childress on April 12, 1952 and she passed away on March 14, 1979. He later married Eugenia Yarbrough on March 07, 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army from April 6, 1948 to April 5, 1952. Raymond was injured twice in the Korean conflict. He was the recipient of two purple hearts. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 1986. He was an original charter member of the South Rock Creek Range Riders roundup club.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, George Childress, Pat Childress, Ed Childress, Clarence Childress, Ott Childress, David Childress, Mattie Childress, Estelle Ashcraft, Elsie Ashcraft, Irene Boring and Charley Childress
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 24 years, Eugenia Childress of the home; one son, Gene Childress of McKinney Texas, two daughters Cheryl Marshall of Shawnee Oklahoma and Tanya Childress of Shawnee. He is survived by two stepsons and their wives, Tom and Mary Yarbrough of Shawnee, John and Cindy Yarbrough of Tulsa and two step daughters Terri McAdoo of New Jersey and Jeanie Bake of Shippensburg Pennsylvania. He is survived by 21 grandchildren; Sandra Borst and husband Daron of San Diego California, Shane Childress and wife Keva of San Diego California, Shawn Childress of San Diego California, Christina Bjorkley and husband Mike of Shawnee, Jason Yarbrough and wife Tiffany of Shawnee, Christopher Yarbrough and wife Samantha of Shawnee, Amy Yarbrough of Asher
Ragen McAdoo of New Jersey, Jordan McAdoo of New Jersey, Melissa Whiteside and husband Randy of Shawnee, Katie Yarbrough of Shawnee, Zachary Yarbrough of Shawnee, Tyler Yarbrough of Tulsa, Kirstie Bake of New Jersey, Clinton Bake of New Jersey, Alesha Bake of New Jersey, Hanley Kincaid of Colorado Springs, Bradley Kincaid of Shawnee, Kristin Kincaid of Tulsa, Kassie Houston of Shawnee and six great grandchildren.
