Carl William Horne

Mr. Carl William Horne, age 80, of Okolona, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Mr. Horne was born to the late Oscar and Verna Horne on November 17, 1937. Mr. Horne had a bachelor’s Degree in music from I U (Indiana University) and was a retired case worker for the state. Throughout his life he has played in many bands and most recently he was a member of Don Kreckel’s Wednesday night band and played at the Knights of Columbus club. His love for music and his talent allowed him to play many instruments, however he played the piano and the trombone the most.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years, Mary Horne; 2 stepchildren, Christine Kay Beckum (Jerry), and Charles Chaney Check (Lisa Michelle); 6 step grandchildren, David Rarden Jr., Amelia Steele, Abigail Henderson, Kelsey Wheatley, Paige Wheatley, and Logan Check; numerous great grandchildren; 1 sister, Jo Anne Martin (Dick); and 2 nephews, Scott and Steve Martin.

A Funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2018, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland cemetery to follow. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 until time of service at the funeral home. www.subfuneralhome.com
