Charles Oliver Burgess

Mr. Charles Oliver Burgess, age 93, of Mammoth Cave, KY returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Mr. Burgess was born in LaGrange, GA on February 18, 1930 to the late Arthur Burgess and Elenor Green Burgess. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, was a truck driver, farmer and entrepreneur.

In addition to his parents, his beloved wives, Louise Lightfoot Burgess and Alice Baker Burgess; daughter, Annette Hart-Ferguson and sister, Shirley Eller preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Becky Neal and David Gordon; grandchildren, Desirae Hart, Randy Ferguson, Billy Neal, Karen Neal and Tonya Clark; great- grandchildren, Dani, Kyli, Kiri, Sky, Little Billy, Jade, C.J., Savanna, Noah, Anslynn, Paislee, Bryson, Collin, Charolotte and Raegan; great- great grandchildren, Isla, Charlie, Cristin, Grayson, Colton, Kennedie and Bentley and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 20, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of his service at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
