Donna Elaine Holmes

Mrs. Donna Elaine Holmes, age 70, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 12, 2020.   Donna was born September 24, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Edwin and Edna (Roby) Greenwell. She was a school bus driver for Miller Transportation and ended her career driving a delivery truck for Courier Journal. Donna was a talented seamstress and she crocheted many gifts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing numerous card games and Scrabble. Donna enjoyed spending time with young people and dedicated many hours being a girl scout troop assistant and coaching softball. She loved her family dearly, she was an awesome “Nana”, and was with her husband for over 30 years. Donna will be greatly missed.   

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband, Kay Don Holmes; her children, Staci Goff (Rick), Kristi Schank (Andy) and Carri Tarrence;  grandchildren, Corey (Sara) and Dylan (Erica) Goff, Jacob Tarrence and Roby and Lucas Schank; great grandchildren, Bently, Carson and Avery; brother, Eddie Greenwell (Suzi Cecil); sister, Susan Greenwell; several dear cousins; a niece and a nephew; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2020 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Bardstown City Cemetery, 220 N. Fifth St. Bardstown, Ky. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
