Gail Marie Osbirn, age 76, of Fern Creek, Kentucky passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025. Gail was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 7, 1949, to the late Clifton Curtis Cowles and Beulah Cowles. She graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School, and retired from Jefferson County Public Schools, where she worked for many years in food service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Richard “Dickie” Osbirn, her parents Ike and Beulah Cowles, and her brother James “Jimmy” Cowles.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Gena Sayat (Jonathan) and Jennifer Soto, her grandchildren Grayson Sayat and Daniel Soto, sisters Judy Schaftlein (Jerry Jekel), and Janice Barnard (Lee). She is also survived by her very special friends Tom and Diana Knott and a host of other dear family and friends. Gail was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, a beloved daughter and sister, a cherished friend to many and a faithful Christian, who above all loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2025, at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, Kentucky). With burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
