Harold Jefferson Edds Jr.

Mr. Harold Jefferson Edds Jr., aka Sunshine, age 79, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family at home. Mr. Edds was born in Louisville, KY on November 26, 1946 to the late Harold Jefferson Edds Sr. and Mary Amy Montgomery Edds.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Renee Everett and Sandi Rae Kohl; his grandsons, Bradley Alan Kohl and Steven Bradley Cummings; one great-grandchild and siblings, William H. Edds, Doris Slaughter, George Edds, Connie Edds, George Scharre Jr. and Brenda Winebrenner.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Sarah Edds; sister, Rosemary Edds (Frank); children, Cheryl Willett (David), Michael Dockery (Angela), Cecil Orten (Sharon) and Shannon Tatum (Jay); grandchildren, Harold “Howie” Edds-Noe (Chantel), Bobby Kinkade, Presley Kinkade, Daniel Willett, Trenton Sharp, Sadie Simon (Adam), Joseph Kohl Jr., Michael Kohl, Brittney Kohl, Shawn Kohl, Brent Edds (Erica), Chris Cummings, Nathan Wayne-Orten, Dakota Dockery, Logan Dockery, Kyle Dockery, Shy- Ann Brown (Ben) and Anastasia Cummings; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other dear family and friends.

He was a devoted member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church. He earned his degree as an Electrical Engineering Tech. and diligently worked as an educator at several schools and with security at Allied Barton. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, was a member of VFW Post 5710 and he was the past Commander with William R. Higgins Post 6748. He loved music, after his brother, George Scharre Jr. taught him to play the guitar, he played in a few bands and sang for his church for many years. Above all, Harold loved and cared for his family.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and family may pay their respects from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2025 and on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of his service at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.

VFW Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 21st during visitation.
