

Mr. Gillespie was retired from General Electric after 37 years of service. He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and a former member of the Zoneton Lions Club. Mr. Gillespie played Santa Claus for 25 years in various locations including Opryland, Greenhill's Mall in Nashville and places locally. Fifteen of those years were in the Nashville's Christmas Parade.
Among those who preceded him in death include, his great grandson, Zaine Smith; parents, Samuel and Helen Barthelmes Gillespie; brother, Richard A. Gillespie and sisters, Genevieve Kubasik and Rose Marie Nesbitt.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Janet Gillespie; children, Linda Herrmann (Mark), Tom Gillespie, Karen Mahurin (Don), Diane Weird (Louis), Patty Donohue (John), Joyce Cloys (Ken) and Danny Gillespie (Aimee); fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, 903 Fairdale Road with burial in Brookland Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd.).
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta or the Salvation Army.
