Mr. John E. Howard

John Edward Howard, Jr., age 68, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 19, 2025, with his family by his side. John was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 3, 1957, to the late John Edward Howard, Sr., and Carolyn Marie (Bader) Howard. He worked at Philip Morris for 20 plus years after retiring he became a Card Dealer for 21 years at Belterra Casino Resort in Indiana. John enjoyed traveling, hiking “Red River Gorge”, spending time at the beach. However, most of all he was a loving husband, dad, Baba, and brother to his family. He enjoyed spending time with them, and they were his world. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandra Howard and brother Joseph Howard.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years Rita Adams Howard, son Matthew A. Howard (Crystal), 2 grandchildren Jaxon and Elliott Howard, 2 sisters Marilyn McKeand, Teresa Similey, 2 brothers Robert Howard (Nancy) and Michael Howard (Mary), Aunt Carolyn Sue Neel (Gerry), along with a host of other dear family and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway). A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel at Funeral Home. Cremation to Follow.
