Leroy David Thompson

Mr. Leroy David Thompson age 90, of Louisville, KY, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, June 21, 2024. He was born in Harrodsburg, Kentucky on August 27, 1933, to the late David W. Thompson and Emma “Price” Thompson. Leroy retired after 40 years of service at Ford Motor Company (LAP). He also was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and a member of the Parkland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, late wife Lanelle Thompson, daughter Nancy Soards, grandson Brian Matthew Soards, sisters Anna May Brown, and Dorothy Cannady, brothers Don and Jeff Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Susan Barnett, son John Kirk (Debbie), grandchildren Kristen Clan (Michael), Brittany Stockman (Shaun), great grandchildren Madison Clan, Liam Clan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends, and his fur baby Lottie. The family would like to make a special mention about Leroy’s honorary daughter Valarie Jones who spent endless hours and days caring for Leroy so that he could remain in his home. For this the family is truly appreciative and you will always remain in a special place in their hearts. 

 A Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Wednesday June 26, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
