Mrs. Mary Margaret Thompson Gunn Steele, age 85, of Okolona returned to her Heavenly Father on March 29, 2017. Mrs. Steele retired from Phillip Morris and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. Among those that preceded her in death include her parents, Chester and Dessie Thompson; first husband, William "Bill" Gunn; second husband, Mike Steele; son, Paul Gunn; stepson, Patrick Steele; brother, Leo "Buddy" Thompson; and sisters, Angela Rawlings and Jeanetta Tinsley. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Lillian Hall (Eugene) and Rita Singleton (Jerry); sons, Edward (Melanie), Steve (Alicia) and Brian Gunn; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Cathy King (Allen), Michael Steele (Mary), Joe Steele (Laura) and Jim Steele (Nancy); 12 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Thompson, Joe Thompson (T.J.) and John Thompson (Laura); and sisters, Alberta Combs, Alice Huntsman, Helen Haarman (Jim), Joyce Deitzman (Butch) and Dottie Kleinfelter (Bill).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at noon on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church (8709 Preston Highway Louisville, KY 40219) with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 1-8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road).
