

Mr. Morris C. Longacre, age 77, of Shepherdsville, Ky. returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Morris was a 1957 graduate of Southern High School, a 1962 graduate of Western Kentucky University, an honorary graduate of Fairdale High School, a retired educator and administrator for the Jefferson County Public School System, a member of Davidson Memorial United Methodist Church, a Mason, Shriner, retired football and track coach, an Army veteran and a master tailgater at University of Kentucky football games since 1988.
Among those who preceded him in death include, parents, Morgan and Florine Longacre; brothers, William, Ted, Jim, Walter and Don Longacre; sisters, Linda Longacre and Lora Jean Fox.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sanders Longacre; children, Kara Jane Orrender (Kevin) and Courtney Longacre (Suzanne); grandchildren, Tristen Weller, Aly Weller, Luke Longacre, Avery Longacre; sisters, Rowena Vaughn, Roberta Carty, Ethel Gardner and Fay Bennett.
Visitation 2-6 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with a memorial service 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Davidson Memorial United Methodist Church, 265 South Buckman Street, Shepherdsville, Ky.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Western Kentucky University Greater Louisville Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, 2019 Gardiner Lane, Louisville, Ky. 40205 or Fairdale High School, 1001 Fairdale Rd, Fairdale Ky. 40118.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Norton's St. Matthews ICU 5th Floor and Dr. Stevens and his staff at the oncology center for their compassionate care.
