Richard "Ricky" Dean Hester

Mr. Richard “Ricky” Dean Hester, age 64, passed away quietly in his home on April 15, 2024. He was born on April 2, 1960 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Richard J. Hester and Janice M. (Ballard) Brightman. Ricky graduated from Fairdale High School, served in the United States Army, and worked at Amazon until his retirement. If you knew Ricky, then you know he was very generous and always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a big hug. He was an avid UofL Cardinal fan and travelled to NASCAR events. Ricky will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dana Murphy and Debbie Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Craig Hester; half sister, Pam Hester; nephews, Steven Hester, Dyllan Hester; great-nephew, Ashton Hester; cousins, Steve Ballard, Jeff Ballard, Jon Ballard, Kelly Roark, Mike Ballard, Mark Ballard, Karen Ballard, Cory Ballard and Jeremy Ballard; stepfather, Francis Brightman; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kentucky Humane Society in his honor.
