

Mr. Richard Lee Wilkins, age 79, of Louisville, KY, passed peacefully at home with his loving family, November 19, 2024. Richard was born in Louisville, KY on April 22, 1945, to the late Sandford and Edna Wilkins. He dedicated 34 years of his life working at the Kroger warehouse, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication, retiring in April 2001. Richard was happiest on the water, most notably his time spent at Dale Hollow Lake where he and his wife spent over 50 years together. Fishing, boating and many cherished memories with family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR fan who never missed a race. His love of cars, the Kentucky Wildcats and his family were what those closest will remember him for most. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Mr. Wilkins is preceded in death by his brothers, Leon and Burt. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Betty Faye Woosley; his children, Tammy Kingsley (Chris), Kelly Mitchell (Brian) and Amanda Smith (Shawn); grandchildren, Michelle Evans (Todd), Katlin Justice (Chuck), Kyle Mitchell (Blaine), McKenna Kaelin (Dillon), and Cole Smith; great-grandchild, Brady, Cooper, Hunter, Sammy, Trinity, Waverly and Crew; special nephew, Scott Wilkins; and a host of other dear family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
