Mrs. Shirley Gilpin, age 79, of Brooks, returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday April 26, 2018. Mrs. Gilpin was born in Columbia, KY on July 13, 1938 to the late Thomas and Mary Smith. She was a lifetime homemaker and a member of Fairdale Christian Church. Mrs. Gilpin loved her family dearly. Mrs. Gilpin dedicated her life to her home and children and was an awesome mom and grandmother. She also loved her dog Bentlee; he gave her great joy. Mrs. Gilpin meant the world to her family and she will be dearly missed.
Among those who preceded her in death include, her husband, Donald Gilpin; 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children, Debra Roberts (Donald), Marilyn Casey (Al), Ronnie Gilpin, Pam Hunt, Kimberly Bale (Paul); 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Gordon Smith; 1 sister, Sue Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday May 1, 2018 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday April 30, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
