He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Sybil Spears and his siblings, Rick Spears, Mike Spears, Trishi Shepherd and Neva Jean Tolson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 20 years, Pamela Spears; children, Billy Dean Spears, Keith Spears (Kristen), Will John Spears (Brittni), Hatti Ballard (Anthony), Jenifer Coy (Robert), Shawn Long (Frank), and Dawn Smith (Jesse); 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Terry, Matthew and Mark Spears; and sister, Jeri Stevens.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
