

Wilma Higgs Embry, age 84, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on January 25, 2021. Wilma was born on September 12, 1936 in Edmonson County, Kentucky to Katherine and Arthur Higgs, Sr. Wilma was a dedicated wife to Billy G. Embry, her husband of 65 years. She cared for him through an extended illness during the last years of his life, until his passing 3 months ago. Wilma was a talented cook, kept an immaculate house, and was an avid gardener who enjoyed being in her yard. Wilma retired from E.I. Dupont after 15 years. Wilma’s career included becoming the first female foreman in the rubber production plant and serving as a fireman on the Dupont squad. Wilma loved her family, was strong in the storms of life, and dedicated in all she attempted. She is preceded in death by her parents; Katherine Meredith Higgs and Arthur Higgs, Sr; brother, Arthur Higgs, Jr.; Sister-in-Law, Jenny Higgs; Nephew, Arthur Higgs, III. Wilma is survived by her children, June Livingston (Jeff), Julie Blandford (Jim), and William Embry (Maria Teresa); her grandchildren, Victoria Livingston; Meredith Sullivan (Titus), Lalita Blandford, Tina Blandford, Nickolas James Embry, Gabriel Gene Embry, and Noah Alexander Embry; Great grandchild, Bradley Troxell; and her sister, June Higgs Wilson. Service will be private at the Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery.
