

Arlene Marie (Shingledecker) Smith was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, Sep. 03, 1950. Her parents were John Shingledecker and Delores Francisco from Clarion, Pennsylvania. Arlene as a little girl used to love to sing, and the first song she ever memorized at age six was a tune called “Little Green Valley.” She graduated from Indiana Area High School, Indiana, Pennsylvania in 1968. She relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, and worked as a lifeguard at the Arizona Biltmore resort for two years. She once saved a man there from drowning. She had been on a high school swim team and won several awards. She later relocated to Georgia and attended a beauty school in Buford. She got a job as a hair stylist at Best Cuts in Lawrenceville, Georgia, for 15 years. She then bought the shop and renamed it Arlene’s Best Cuts and operated it for five years until she fell ill in 2007. Her husband Conrad Smith passed away in 2008. Over the years Arlene loved to embroider as well as design quilts as a hobby. She is survived by two sons, Matthew and Chuito, two granddaughters, Olivia and India, brothers Harry and John, and sisters Terry, Linda, Janice, and Amy.
A visitation for Arlene will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Cremation, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039.
