Born in Summit, NJ, Eileen was the beloved daughter of the late Lois and Stanleigh Morrissey. She was also predeceased by her brother, Donald Morrissey, Sr.; her nephew, Donald Morrissey, Jr.; and her former husband, Joseph Walsh.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Mary-Elizabeth McGowan and her husband, Marc, of Grayson, and Eileen Walsh of Lawrenceville; her cherished grandchildren, Katie Munck and her husband, Tanner, Jack McGowan, MaryGrace McGowan, Patrick McGowan, William Tishken, and Caroline Tishken; and her adored great-granddaughters, Lily and Violet Munck. She is also survived by her nephews, Brian Morrissey (Michele Moroney), and Scott Morrissey (Kim); and by her niece, Natasha Carter (Brian); as well as her beloved canine companion, Jenna.
Eileen worked for 18 years as an executive assistant at the Jewish Guild for the Blind in New York City. Prior to that, she served in executive assistant roles for several companies throughout the New York metropolitan area. She was admired for her remarkable organization, efficiency, and her unmistakable “phone voice.”
More than anything, Eileen will be remembered for her generous heart and warm spirit. She never met a stranger and could easily strike up a conversation with someone on the bus or train during her daily commute. She was deeply devoted to her family and friends and was always ready to offer love, encouragement, support, or help to anyone in need, even during difficult times in her own life.
Eileen enjoyed life’s simple pleasures most — sitting around the dining room table playing games with family, needlepoint, and hooking rugs by hand. As a young woman she especially loved spending time at the Jersey Shore, where many cherished memories were made with those she loved most. Eileen was also a proud graduate of Saint Dominic Academy in Jersey City. Her strength, humor, and caring nature touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and Memory Gardens, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039.
