Mom,
I remember as a little boy how much you adored us (your children). You bragged about us to all your friends. We knew you loved us and what we now are is a reflection of the values you instilled in us. You taught us that it is OK to show affection and on more than one occasion I remember rubbing off red lipstick that you planted on my cheek as a reminder to the world that I belonged to you.  I remember being your companion at the neighborhood movie theater while Dad was at work. Those films were my first window to the world outside of Kirkwood. Later, when I played high school sports you were my biggest fan. Christmas was always a special time at our house. We always had an abundance of presents under the tree and you made sure that Santa brought us what we needed, and if possible what we wanted.  Later, you did the same for my children. I will miss our conversations on the telephone, your warm smile, and your big heart. The world seems to be a little colder since you've gone, but I know you are catching up with all your friends and relatives in heaven.  It seems that every day I find myself thinking of you in one way or another.  Save a place for me. I'll by joining you one day.

We were so sorry to hear about Eleanor's passing. As I looked through the pictures,I was reminded of the friendship between our families.I saw our dad in Bill and Eleanor's wedding picture. I was reminded of the times our families spent time together when I was young. I also remembered seeing Eleanor at visitation when our dad passed. We spent a lot of time catching up that night. She was a nice lady and a friend. She will be missed, but not forgotten. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers.

Eleanor's family will miss her.  They will miss her cards on every holiday with cute stickers on the envelope, Easter baskets full of candy and treats, her banana bread and potato salad, her banana pudding at the reunions, her beautiful cross stitched items, long talks on the telephone late at night, and her excitement at Christmas and how she would wrap every item individually so that her grandchildren would have more presents to unwrap. She loved her grandchildren and even called their pet dogs her grandchildren. We have special  memories of her at the Forrester reunions at Walnut Grove Park, the Summerour Reunions at Corinth Christian Church, Martha Brown UMC homecomings, Ousley UMC Women's Club, birthday celebrations, weddings, showers, graduations, taking her to Panama City Beach and the dog races, taking her out to eat, watching all her grandchildren at Avondale Pool,  and her excitement as she watched children in Halloween costumes trick-or-treating at our house. She loved getting her hair fixed every week, playing Bingo and the lottery, completing crossword puzzles, giving friends pictures of her grandchildren, watching soap operas, shopping till the stores closed, finding a good sale, decorating and arranging flowers, eating ice cream, and always answering the phone to share all family news. But most of all,  Eleanor loved being with her family.

   I wanted to write and let you know I was so sorry to her about your mother's passing. I know how hard it must of been, especially during the holidays. If there is anything that I could do or you need, please let me know.

 I am so very sorry to hear of Eleanor's passing.  She was a sweet, kind woman and was always helpful to me when I needed to buy a corsage from Hall's!  And boy, did we ever have fun in Panama City when the whole family would go!!

For over 75 years the Abernathy family has treasured love and friendship with the Jones/Hindsman families.  Though separated by distance and life's activities, the bond of love always existed.  Eleanor was my only attendant when Paul and I married April 5, 1942 - almost 70 years ago.  Her passing affected me deeply, and I extend to you, her famly, a loving, compassionate sympathy. I received a message through the Murphy High School network about the passing of Mrs. Forrester and wanted to express my condolences. I attended Murphy with John. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

I was so sorry to see Eleanor's name in the obituaries today. We were nextdoor neighbors in Kirkwood back in the forties and fifties. May our Lord comfort your hearts and give you His peace in these days of sorrow. Isaiah 51.12 "I, even I, am He that comforteth you."

I lived across the street from the Forrester's on Miriam Lane from 1966-1970.Mr. and Mrs. Forrester were among the nicest people I ever met.  I remember Mr. Bill taking all neighborhood kids to Majic Market for a slurpee at night.  Mrs. Forrester always made cookies for us kids.  I am so sorry to learn of her passing.  Beth and I were in some of the same classes and we played together many times.  I remember her having a 2 seater go-cart and being envious of it.  I would love to hear from Beth.
