

James “Jimmy” Roy Whitelaw Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. Jimmy lived a life full of passion, love, dedication, and service to others.
Jimmy was a man of many talents and interests. He had an enduring love for music, which brought joy to those around him. As a business owner, he was known for his integrity and dedication. An avid hunter and skilled marksman, Jimmy enjoyed the thrill and tranquility of the outdoors. A proud and active member of the Masonic community, he served as the Grand Master of the Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Association of Shrine Oriental Bands. Jimmy’s generous heart was reflected in his support and fundraising for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, as well as the Masonic Home of Georgia Children’s Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, June Elizabeth Whitelaw and Robert Simeon Whitelaw Sr., and his brother, Robert S. Whitelaw Jr. Jimmy is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Cathy; his son, James Roy Whitelaw Jr. (Mary Beth); his daughter, Jennifer R. Samonsky (Jay); and his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Jake, Zack, Jordan, and Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Bell (Tommy) and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Although he will be deeply missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is in the arms of the Father in heaven.
