Margaret Janell Burnham of Lilburn, GA passed on January 22, 2025. She was born in Slyvania, Screven County, GA on May 23, 1935. At the time of her passing, Janell was a faithful member of Yellow River Baptist in Lilburn.
Janell lived a life rooted in love, family, her church, serving others and her Messiah. Janell was a woman whose joy in life came from feeding others and telling them about Jesus. She loved her daughter and granddaughter with fierce devotion.
She was a devoted wife to her (deceased) husband Bobby Carl Burnham whom She built a life alongside him marked by resilience, determination, and fortitude.
Janell’s gift of hospitality and generosity was evident in the many breakfasts, lunches and dinners she routinely hosted in her home throughout the years, sometimes with well over 50 in attendance. She was a “regular” at her local Kroger and Ingles grocery store. In her later years, her pride and joy was her ministry to other widows which birthed a ladies prayer group.
Beneath her Southern demeanor, laid a stubborn personality resisting any and all help – she was determined to do as much as she could for as long as she could – even blowing leaves off her driveway with her walker.
She was her sassy self to the end – joking with nurses, doctors and physical therapists giving them a good-natured hard time
Janell ‘s legacy of faith will live on in the hearts she touched and the love she so freely gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Congregation Beth Adonai for the commission of a Torah Scroll. This is to honor how much Janell loved God’s Word and continue her legacy. The address for gifts is 4141 Bancroft Circle, Tucker, GA 30084 or donations can be sent via zelle to [email protected] with a note in the comments.
