Mary D. Wood

Mary Danzey Wood, a resident of Snellville, Georgia passed away Friday, April the 12th at the age of 84. Mary Wood was born on March 30, 1929 in Homestead, Florida. She graduated from Homestead High School in 1947 where she was a cheerleader and a majorette. She was also a life long member of the Silver Palm United Methodist Church of Homestead, Florida. While she lived in Snellville she attended Snellville United Methodist Church. Mary retired from Baptist Hospital of Miami after thirty-six years of service as Director of Communications. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Velma Harkness Oldendorf and Lee Danzey along with her husband, Calvin Wood and infant daughter, Glenda Gayle. She is survived by siblings Shirley Greer and family of High Springs, Fl, Richard Danzey (Margaret) and family of Jefferson, GA, Loretta Avant and family of Arcadia, FL, Lee Danzey (Judy) and family of Mashpee, MA. Two children, Roy Wood Sr. (Teresa) and family of Loganville, GA and Michael Wood (Petra) and family of Snellville, GA. Two grandchildren, Roy Wood, Jr., (Lauren and great-grandson, Austin Xavier) and family of Chattanooga, TN and Stefan Wood of Alpharetta, GA. She will be missed by her dear friends who she attended church with, Barbara Freid, Anne Ellis, Lucia Dyer, and many more. At Mrs. Wood's request there will be no memorial service.
