Sometimes I'll just think of Gramma Rhody and it just makes me smile. She was so sweet and funny to me. She loved her children fervently and her grandchildren even more than that -  if it was possible. I hope she is laughing and singing and playing amongst the Angels in Heaven. She lived a Good life and was a good example to me and so many others. She was a commited Christian and was always helping others. She will always be fondly remembered and I miss her often. See you on the other side Rhody!  ☺

There are so many amazing memories I have of Grandma Rhody that I could never sum them all up into only one favorite moment. She was always so welcoming to my son and I as being a part of the family... From holidays to random family cookouts Grandma Rhody was always there, usually having side conversations with my young son. She will be greatly missed not only my son and I, but by so many that she has touched with her amazing personality. I am so very lucky that I got to know her so many years ago. Love you Gramma Rhody

Gramma Rhody isn't really my grandmother, but from the beginning of my marriage to her grandson Keith, I felt like she was. She treated me just like one of her own so she instantly became Gramma Rhody to me.  

Gramma Rhody was always so cheerful whenever I would see her and she would always engage me in conversations, genuinely wanting to know how I was.  She would give me motherly advice, even though I was an adult. I remember her coming to our house to visit and telling me how much detergent to put in the washing machine.  She would help me with dishes and put the dish rag exactly where she thought it should go, even though I told her I kept it somewhere else.  

She was meticulous in everything she did, even down to the way she dressed and took care of herself.  She could always be seen in ironed clothes that matched perfectly with her hair done like she just walked out of a salon.  

I admire her for many reasons. Gramma was an independent woman, a strong woman, and a strong willed woman, not to mention fierce.  She would say what was on her mind ... whether you wanted to hear it or not.  She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  Keith would tease her and get her going about something and you could just see the joy in her eyes when she would laugh about what he had said.  

Her belief and dedication to God was important to her, it came through in everything she said and did.  You will be sadly missed Gramma Rhody.  You are whole and at peace in the presence of our Maker now, and though it hurts to be without you here, there is such great celebration that you are with Him. I will see you again soon enough Gramma

Grandma Rhody was such a gem of a lady. I was privileged to know her just before she was really sick and, of course these last few years. My favorite memories were when she would cuddle up with my daughter Sydney, when Syd was 3 or 4, and they would read together. It was as if they were teaching eachother. Sydney was so mesmerized by Grandma Rhody and visa versa. The most entertaining was the flirtatious behavior between my husband and Rhody. She took a liking to him right away, mostly because he is just as blunt as she was. She would just eat it up and play along. Near the end of her long journey, she never ceased to amaze me. Even though she had no clue who I was or where she was, she always asked if I was ok and always had a smirk on her face. She was a fighter, even when she didn't know what she was fighting for. Going to miss that incredible woman.

When there is sadness, love plants a garden of memories. Wishing Rhody's family moments of peace and tenderness ... Hope God's warm hands heal your hearts in such a loving way that all your memories will be with you forever.    With our love

Rhodesa was a great lady. Loving, always ready to help, and she loved to laugh. I can still her her laugh! Haven't seen her in a long time but will miss hearing about her adventures in life. Love to all her family.

Rhody brought joy to us.  She was always ready to share a story about her life.  And, boy, did she have stories.  The thing I found fascinating is that she was always full of surprises - you would think you knew something about her and then find out there was more to the story.  It was like peeling an onion - there was always another layer to learn.  Who knew about her love of music?  Who knew about her sense of humor?  Who knew about the love and trust she had for her family?  You found these things out little by little as you spent more and more time with her.  Bill says, "Rhody's eyes can tell a story" and that is so true.  She spoke with one look.  I hear that Phyllis may have inherited that trait - just saying!  She was a dear friend who showed us how to keep going no matter what life handed you - hang in there.  We love you, Rhody.  Thank you for sharing a portion of your life with us.

Great Grandma Rhody was a gem. As a child, I remember sitting in her lap and we would sing together. I would play with her loose skin on the tops of her hands. She also always had lifesavers in that Mary Poppins purse of hers. When Don came into her life, I used to love telling people that my Great Grandma had a boyfriend... And I didn't. People seemed to get a kick out of it, especially considering I was probably 12. When Grandma Rhody would cook, we all would get so frustrated because she would cut lettuce leaves, for example, into minuscule bites that you could practically swallow without chewing. When Chad and I were 16, she gave us her 1996 Oldsmobile. I loved the Rhody Rhodster. But I sure did get tired of those breaks that sounded like dying elephants. As much as I wanted a new car after the 3 years we drove it, my mom would constantly remind me that "it adds to your character, Kaitlyn." I hated hearing that. But I'm so darn thankful for that car now. Towards the end, she used to ask, "Are you happy?" The ironic part about that question is the fact that she was about to enter into the happiest place in all of eternity. Oh, how I wish I could be joining her while she is hanging out with Jesus and Moses and all those cool biblical people. Love you, Grandma Rhody. See you again.

She raised two beautiful daughters and showed them how to live thru her example. She was a devoted follower of Jesus.  She shaped my faith and because she did, countless others will have the chance to know Jesus.  My life is blessed because of her example and character.  I'm sure that Jesus took her in and said to her “well done my good and faithful servant-welcome home!”

Aunt Rhodesa is a part of many of my family childhood memories. From an early age, I can remember visits to her home where there were hugs at the door and candy placed within reach on every end table in her living room. 

Aunt Rhodesa took a genuine interest in my life activites and attended many school concerts and piano recitals.   She wrote letters to me on a regular basis (which always included a little spending money) when I was in college far away from home.

Her last visit to my home was for my daughter's wedding.  She was excited to be here and jumped at the chance to help with last minute details and food preparations for the rehearsal dinner.  I can still see her sitting on the swing in the backyard with my Mom and Dad, laughing and enjoying being with family.

Aunt Rhodesa was a kind and generous person who loved her family, friends and life.  She will me missed.

It's not very often that you hear someone talk about their great grandmother. I was lucky enough to be able to spend 27 years with mine. It always brought me joy to brag to people that my Great Grandma Rhody and I were spending time together. Some of my fondest memories include: stopping at Taco Bell for a Nacho Bell Grande after church on Sundays, dinners in her tiny dining room, the smaller-than-bite-size pieces she always cut food into, her salon visits, and how she always seemed to remember my husband's name. We love you a bushel & a peck and a hug around the neck.

Rhody invited us to visit her when we were in Georgia.  She was a perfect hostess.  She told interesting stories and made us feel at home.  Rhody had a deep faith and was a strong witness for Christ.  She was a special lady.

Rhody did not like me (Spunky) I would keep her #1 daughter out too much - I was getting Phyllis out from underneath a rock ... and then we ran away and got married.  It took Rhody a long time to get over that.  Then we had Trish and then we became friends.  She was the Mom I never really had - then later on she thought of me as a son.  We had a lot of real good times together - camping, dune bugging, church camp, vacations, traveling to special places to friends and family, and eating out.  She loved Red Lobster, and steak places. The last time we went out to Longhorn's she ate like she had not had anything to eat in a week. All I can say is she loved to eat. Near the end we spent a lot of times together at the lake. I miss her at the counter in the morning.  She always had a snack before her pills and then she would flirt with me by winking at me.  She could do both eyes but I could only do one.  She would say I love you Edwin. She never asked too much.  She gave more than she took.  I could have done more for her - I wish I had.  I love you Mom

It is hard to remember a time in my childhood that did not include Aunt Rhodesa.  My mom's family was close.  Maybe it was because they were a poor family that made them all bond together and support each other when they were adults.  That didn't mean they always got along (I can remember some doozy fights) but they were always there for each other.  And Aunt Rhodesa was there for everybody.

As a kid growing up, all the cousins looked forward to a gift from Aunt Rhodesa.  They weren't expensive.  They didn't need to be.  It was just that she remembered us.  My favorite was a ring with my birthstone.  When I was older, I made a mess of my life and didn't have a place to stay for the summer.  My parents had renovated and were living in the basement of Aunt Rhodesa's house.  There wasn't enough room in the basement for me to stay but Aunt Rhodesa didn't hesitate to let me stay in one of her spare bedrooms upstairs.  It was a special gesture because Aunt Minnie was already living there in the other bedroom.  She never said a word, just welcomed me in.

I know that given the strict upbringing that the Lathwell family experienced, it was hard sometimes for all of them to decide whether to come down on the side of what they thought was "right" or whether to extend unconditional love to those of us who sometimes didn't follow the path but almost always Aunt Rhodesa chose love.  And we are all the better for it.

Rhodesa was her name but our family only new her as Grandma Rhody.  She was that from the 1st time Steve & I met her over 35 years ago.  She was that to our children Scott & Travis also.  She was a breath of fresh air each and everytime we saw her.  We shared so many good times together over the years, shopping, stories of when she was young, birthdays(loved those so much), weddings, birth of all Trish's children and ours.  We loved seeing her tooling around town in the convertible with Daddy Don, stopping by our house to just say "hi".  She was a friend, a mentor, and GRANDMA to us.  We love her so much and will miss her everyday.  Resting in the peace that she in now in a better place makes us smile.

Rhodessa was a dear friend.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and she didn't mind sharing her opinion!  Rhodessa was a faithful,loving person.  I always thought she was so pretty and always looked so professional.  If you needed anything, you could count on her.  She always had a good spirit about her.  I know her last few years were difficult but now she is at peace.

One of the things I remember about Rhodesa is the little ditty she used to play on the piano.  I don't know the name of it.  Someone said it was "The Happy Farmer", but I'm not sure.

I learned to play it by listening to her.  Just lately I tried to recall that song but it wouldn't come to mind.  Then one day it just popped back in my head.

Now whenever I play it I will think of Rhodesa sitting at the piano playing that little music treasure.

Rhodesa and I were the last of ten children.  It is sad to be the only one left.  I am thankful for the memories of the many times we had together.  We worked at General Motors in the same office.  I lived at her house.  We shopped together, went out to eat and traveled to Europe.  She was very much a part of my life.  She had a great sense of humor and many times we laughed until we were in tears.  She cared about people and her church.  She left a place in the hearts of many and she will always have a special place in my heart.  I love you Sis.

I feel honored to write in Rhody's Guest Book.  I think it was her 80th birthday party that Gordon and I enjoyed so much celebrating with her and Don and the many friends and family.  She was very active on in our O.K. Group (Older Kids) and she was so sweet to join in with whatever we had planned.  Yes, Rhody was always so pleasant and added much to our  group.  What great memories her family must have and for you Phyllis having cared for her for so long. I know you feel the loss, but your mother is in God's hands now, she is not suffering any longer. Ed and you showed her so much love and comfort. I am glad she was my sister-in-Christ.

I met Rhody throught her daughter, Norma. We hit it off on that first visit and it continued either in Florida or her home in Georgia. She was my kind of person, strong and yet gentle and caring. Always ready for a good time. I so admired her for bringing up two daughters, pretty much by herself. It was apparent the love in that whole family was so genuine. It all started with Rhody. It was my privilege and honor to have known this beautiful woman. Rhody you can rest now, your work here is done.

Rhody was one of the greatest people I ever knew.  She was a witty, funny, kind and generous lady.  She loved God & her family more than anything and knew the importance of relationships.  She shared her wisdom and wasn't afraid to speak her mind about things.  She was as authentic as a person could get. She had a beautiful smile and a sparkle in her eyes.  She was always willing to offer a helping hand to everyone and was committed to her faith and service to her church.  She is missed tremendously by all of us who loved her, but she left behind a beautiful memory of a life well-lived, and a friendship that will always be remembered.  The last time I really spent time with her was at Mike & Whitney's wedding in May 2013.  This picture is one that was taken of  the family following the ceremony on the beach.  She was definitely the matriarch of the family and loved her role & every minute of her time with each & everyone of them.  She was one of the "best of the best" of all time!

We knew Rhodesa from the Waterford Church of Christ and if you met her, you never forgot her.  She was a great cook and could clean better than anyone I ever knew.  Her faith in God was amazing and you always knew where you stood with her!  Like Mother, like daughters......we love you all and know you will continue to make her proud.

Rhody was my “Rhode Dog”.  That simply means that she was my feisty friend. She gave me an unspoken permission to be sassy and like that about myself. I will miss the way that she use to grab my face and touch my forehead against hers. Thank goodness for fresh breath! LOL  It was the most gentle act of love and delicately intimate.  I knew that I was loved. I believe that two of the most powerful gifts in life are to be loved and to know that you are love.

What a pleasure it was to spend a couple of years getting to know Rhody.  The fire in her soul was very familiar to me, and I was repeatedly surprised by the wisdom I would take away when I spoke with her.
Always made me smile....always.
She will be remembered with love.

What can I say?  Rhody was a trip.  She was a fantastic person who loved God, loved her family tremendously, and loved to tell you a story.  I don't remember when I didn't know her since moving to Georgia.  She was always there to share her love, her hard work, her laughs, and her opinions.  ATLNO Church was moving a lot until we built the new church building.  We did lots of work together to get things fixed up and cleaned for each location.  Rhody and Phyllis were always there working, cleaning and helping us all do it the best way possible.  I think I learned how to really clean a toilet from those two.  When Phyllis wasn't doing it "right" then Rhody would step in to show and tell us how it should be done.  From cleaning, cooking and decorating, we all worked well together, learned a lot and had tons of laughter and Chili.  Rhody was always so much fun at the OK groups.  Always ready with a story and a laugh from "does she cackle" to how many children were in her family.  She was generous to all and always wanted to "pay the bill" when we went out to eat.  She taught us how a "lady" should look and dress and how to share your testimony of the love of God.  She blessed us all with her presence and she will be greatly missed.  I love you Rhody and will miss your big smile even when you stick your tongue out at me for taking your picture.  But I know we'll be having a big party when we all get together for the big OK group in the sky.

We were blessed when we moved next door to Rhody & it was bittersweet when she moved to Ga.  What a wonderful person!  She was not just a neighbor, she was a friend.  94 years old!  Wow!  What a wonderful life she had and we are so honored that we were able to be part of it!!

Beautiful Rhody, I so enjoyed spending time with you at bible study.  Your faith in God was inspiring.  Thank you for sharing your wisdom and beautiful prayers with our group.

A lady she was and will always be remembered as such.  It was my privilege spending time with her the weekend before her death ... and I will be forever grateful for the time I had. I met Rhody at Community of Christ Church and she said exactly what was on her mind which I liked about her. She later shared with me that she was a single mom of two great daughters and being a single mom of two boys I really admired her even more.  My best memories are of she, Phyllis, Sandra and I going to bible study and lunch together.  My life is better because Rhoday was part of it. I have known Ma for 23 years. Whenever she would come down to visit Norma and Wayne, we became good friends and we would have fun good visits with one  another. Any passing thought of Grandma Rhody would always be enough to bring a smile to my face.  She was a gracious, lovely woman who was kind enough to consider my family her family and she shared all of the love that goes with being part of her family.  She was a strong woman with a strong faith.  Full of love and joy and it was my privilege to know and love her for the last 27 years!  Enjoy that new life with Jesus in Heaven, Grandma Rhody.  I look forward to seeing you again one day!

My first memory of Rhody was her setting in her office at General Motors in fall of 1983.  I shared many happy times with her and her wonderful family. I lived with her for a few months between homes and she would make me the best Chicken Salad ever!  She was a beautiful person inside and out.

I have a lot of memories of Aunt Rhodesa as I am only 16 years younger. There were some good times at our farm in Penfield, OH, in Lorain and in Michigan. She shared a few insights with me in our older years for which I am grateful. I wish we could have lived closer to each other as the years went by. My love to Phyllis and Norma and all the extended family.

My favorite memory of Gma Rhody is simply being remembered! Whenever I saw her at church, she would hug me and say, "Hey kid! I know you! How're you?" And, everytime I would go through the line for potluck, "What do you think you're doing! Back of the line, mister!!" Oh, the great times messing with her and her with me, what an honest and lively, loving soul. I can't wait to spend time with her again, in the kingdom!

What a life and what a lady!  She has beautiful daughters, beautiful grandchildren and beautiful great grandkids.  Wow what more can one hope for in life.  She was blessed with family and this family was blessed to have her.  She is loved and we will always have fab memories.  We love you Grandma Rhody and will see you again someday.

Gramma Rhody was such a bundle of love. She was also one to bring you laughter even in the darkest of times. Gramma loved to make sure you were "okay" all the time and she would also let you know that she loved you. Her humbleness and beautiful eyes would make you smile at every moment. I'm blessed to have had her as my Great Grandmother. She was an incredible lady who I will continue to look up to. I love you Gramma Rhody!

We hold encouraging memories of Rhody as one with a steadfast faith who has left a legacy and example for her family and others!  Our two great commandments are to love God and love people, and Rhody did those well.  Thank you, God, for the opportunity to experience her smile, sense of humor, and presence.

It was always a delight when Rhody visited us at the Dacula Congregation, she always just lit up the room.  Each time she came it was like the first time all over.
Her smile and gracious ways touched my heart and I will keep those memories.
Before she passed on to be with he heavenly maker, Jim Vernon and I layed our hands on her head for administration, her sweet, sweet spirit was there and spoke to us, telling us that she was going to be in the best hands ever and not to worry.

I always loved Rhody's sense of humor.  She always made me smile whenever I was around her.  I feel so blessed to have been a part of her life, even if briefly.  I will always appreciate how she selflessly opened up her home to us when we first moved to Georgia.  I will miss her "firecracker" personality.

I'll always remember precious visits with Rhody when she was radiant with the spark of her inner life. She was fun to be with and sincere. I was fortunate to know her.

All too funny... So about 7 years ago I was headed to our South East Mission Center Women's Retreat. It had been a taxing week prior. I had my choices of rooms so I choose to bunk with Rhody and Phyllis knowing for sure  I would be able to retire early with a good long nights sleep. It was the most memorable night ever. We had our own slumber party. We were like 3 teenagers laughing and carrying on. Rhody had the best stories. I was so blessed to be a part of that moment in time. No kidding a couple other ladies joined us later that night. (late arrivals) They were snoring while we were still laughing. Girls just want to have fun! I thank God for making it possible for Rhody to be a part of my life. I am a Yankee who lived in Pontiac Michigan while on my journey.  Marcia Vlasnik  A Georgia Transplant.

I always loved spending time with Rhody!  She spoke her mind (like me) and loved the Lord.  She reminded me a lot of my own grandmother.  She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.  I know she's living it up with Christ!

Rhody was what I call a "class act".  She was always well dressed with hair and makeup fixed perfectly but once you looked beyond her beauty, you saw this amazing sparkling personality who loved life and people and God!  She was so feisty that nobody could have guessed her real age.  I loved her and will miss her.  There will be a big hole that nobody else can fill in this life.

Donald and I will miss Rhody.  We will miss her quick wit, her sparkling eyes and the way she made each person feel special.  I loved hearing Rhody tell her funny stories during Bible study, and it was always a treat to watch her play the piano.  Yes, Rhody brought spice to life!   Donald and Nancy Evans

My sweet Mom was my biggest fan, that is unless she was sticking up for Ed.  I loved everything about her; her softness, compassion, understanding, her strength, even her stubbornness, her willingness to always give not only of herself - financially too, but most important of all her love.  She loved hard and especially with family.  I would tell her I love you Mom - and she would say I love you more.  She was my hero.  I looked up to her in so many ways. It was my hope that one day I could be like her.  She loved sitting in our screened deck watching the humming birds and butterflies, just soaking up the sun - enjoying the smells and sounds; she said, "it was like being transported to another world it is so peaceful here".  Mom grew as she aged and understood she had to especially with her grandchildren.  Almost to the end she was ready and willing to go with us whether it be to vacation, going to church reunion, to celebrate an occasion, visiting someone, or just going out to eat; she wanted to be a part of the goings on in her family's lives.  Everyone would agree she was our social butterfly.  And now she is in heaven, free of her wheelchair and hospital bed, free from her tired earthly body and once again whole.  We smile knowing she truly is enjoying this time as she is greeted by her Heavenly Father and reunites with friends and loved ones who have gone before her.  She is lighting up a part of heaven with her beautiful sweet smile and laugh.  Ed and I continue to love her, we feel so happy and honored that we were able to keep her with us, making her final days what she had wished for, to be at home.  Sorry for those hard times Mom.  We treasure our memories and the times we spent together, you will live on in our hearts.  Til we meet again.  With our Love Phyllis and Ed

I remember distinctly the first time I met Rhody Molnar - and my impression was of a beautiful lady with a beautiful demeanor and sweet personality.  As I got to know her, I recognized a very strong person who had gone through much heartache and hardship, but it didn't weaken this lady, it made her a strong person.  She was strong in her faith and knew where her strength came from.  Her family was her heart and she loved them deeply.  Everyone loved Rhody's sense of humor and without hurting feelings, she would get her opinions heard and accepted.  She was a treasure, a gift from God to all of us.  I miss her everyday.  Rhody will live on through her family as they learned life's lessons from the best.  I believe that "life" goes on and that Rhody is blessing others wherever she is and that our Father smiles upon her face.  You are missed.  Love your sister, Kay

Grandma - I was proud of how she lived her life, proud to be her grandson.  She was an inspiration to me by living her life according to her beliefs with an unwavering day to day lifestyle.  She was strong and a bit stubborn, but that made her more of an influence.  She took care of me in many ways, all of them showed me the power of her love.  She is in a much better place now, Love you Grandma.  Thanks Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Ed for comforting her in very trying times during her last days. Your sacrifice is appreciated.

She was my cousin through her first marriage and we were reunited at the Wargo family reunion, after I had re-found her daughters by telephone.  We met twice a few yrs back so I never had the chance to really know her, it is sad that all of those years were lost.  But I must say her daughters loved and admired her just the way those three were together that afternoon, and very well dressed and classy, and beautiful she was. We will see each other again, now that the clouds have lifted , you are free and clear to remember all of the love that was here and always will be for her. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.  I only have fond memories, she was always giving and kind. I was blessed to have known her.

I have known Rhody for many years and have especially enjoyed visiting with her and Phyllis in church in recent times even though it was difficult for her.  She had such a joyous spirit and seemed to enjoy visiting with everyone.  Her sense of humor and steadfastness was a testimony of her strength and courage.  My sympathy to all.

My Aunt Rhodesa was one classy lady.  She was a hard worker and gave 100% to everything she did  If you needed something done, she would get right in there to get it done..  I remember as a child, I always looked forward to going to my aunt's home as she always made you feel right at home.  She came out to our home in Missouri and went to a baseball game of our son's and was not shy in cheering him on.  I know I will miss her along with many others but I also know that she is free of this earthly body and now resides with her family who greeted her on her arrival along with our Heavenly Father.

I met Rhody at TOPS.  She came with Phyllis on Friday mornings and then we would go to Ihop for breakfast.  What I loved about her was when she saw you her face just lit up and you saw her lovely smile.  Although her passing is our loss, I am sure she is lighting up heaven.

I've known Rhody since I first started going to our  congregation in Pontiac, MI.  We were in Sunday school together in Waterford congregation, later worked together at GM in Pontiac, then later married her youngest daughter.  What a wonderful person she was.  Don't ever remember having a cross word with her.  A beautiful person and a servant  of God.  We miss her greatly.

She was my mother, I was her second child Norma. All my life she was the best mother one could have.  She worked hard to give me and  my sister a good life.  Even though we never had a lot of things others had, we never knew it.  She made our lives so happy that we felt rich.  She was the most loving, caring and sacrificing person God created, always putting others before herself.  She taught us to be the same and raised us up to believe in God and to live by his word. She was loved and respected by all of her employers, people she worked with and all who knew her.  A more precious and loving Mother there will never be.  She was always there for me no matter what.  I am so blessed to have had her as long as we did.  I know all her sisters and brothers are having a heavenly reunion.  I miss you Mamacita.  I know I will see you later.

Rhodesa was my "Mom #2" and I loved her like my Mom. She gave so much to others and never asked or expected anything in return. I know she has the biggest halo and wings than anyone else. Love you Mom #2.
