

She was born in Rockville to the late Fredrick and Mary (Forster) Ertel on July 26, 1930.
She was the office manager for Five Star Manufacturing for many years.
Claire was a great mom who enjoyed dancing, singing, bowling, crosswords, Sudoku and watching TV including sports of all kinds.
She is survived by her four children, Christine Cioffari and her husband Paul of Avon, Karen Cunningham and her husband Jamie of Simsbury, Diana Thigpen and her husband Peter of Bristol, Mark and his wife Ruthann of Southington; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Lauren, Danny, Melissa, Deanna, Kelly, Emily, Peter, Tracy and Jeffrey; and four great-grandchildren, Weston, Bryson, Matthew and Owen.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Vincent Ertel, and her sisters Helen Reilly and Rita Ertel.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Southington Care Center for their kind and compassionate care of their mother.
Walk through calling hours will be held on Friday, January 29th, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Due to the current pandemic, admittance is limited and masks and social distancing precautions are required. Burial will be private.
