Eileen Wood

Eileen A. Wood, 95, of E. Hampton and formerly of the Plantsville section of Southington passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 with her two daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Wood for 59 years until his passing in 2006.

Born January 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Chief Edward and Irene (Maynard) Geary.

A graduate of Lewis High School class of 1942, Eileen went on to join in the 1st U.S. Army Cadet Nursing Corps in 1943 during WW II and became a registered nurse in 1946.

Eileen and Robert were married on December 28, 1946 and shortly after Eileen joined the Bradley Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She truly enjoyed her family and loved nothing more than spending time with her large extended family and friends.

Eileen leaves her two daughters, Patricia Cichowski and husband Paul and Susan Hopkins and husband Hank all of E. Hampton; six grandchildren, Kelly LaCluyze, Karen Roberts and husband Dan, Erica Sharpe and husband Shawn, Luke Cichowski and wife Jamie, Lindsey Hopkins and Randy Hopkins; eight great grandchildren, Bobby and Katie LaCluyze, David and Emily Roberts, Savannah, Coleman and Garrett Sharpe and Quinn Cichowski along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son George Wood, daughter-in-law Joanne (DiNello) Wood, her daughter Karen Wood, sister, Margaret Buzanoski and two brothers, Edward and James Geary.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be prior to the Mass from 9-10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Due to the current pandemic, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
